As part of the Pettenkofer School of Public Health's ‘Planetary Health Talks,’ experts present exciting lectures on various planetary health topics. Planetary crises, including climate change, species extinction, and air, water, and soil pollution, pose the greatest health risk of the 21st century. For example, there is an increase in mortality due to heat waves, reduced food security after prolonged periods of drought, and mental health issues after floods or other extreme weather events.

The Planetary Health Talks are free of charge, designed for an interdisciplinary audience and open to everyone interested.

The next session is:

14 January 2026 | 5:30 - 7:00 pm

Redifining Global Partnerships: Applying a de-colonial lens to global and planetary health

With Elochukwu Okanmelu and Carmen Klinger

Further information on the topic of planetary health can also be found in the free VHB OPEN course Planetary Health: https://open.vhb.org/blocks/occoursemetaselect/detailpage.php?id=295
